It’s been nonstop AND I’m not stopping!
As I write this note to you, I am tired, but great! My parents came to NJ this past weekend (from Florida) and my girls came home (from NYC) and we spent several days eating a ton of food and just spending time together.
In addition to spending Mother’s Day together, they came to attend the Women for Women Today event that I created and produced on Monday. It was a great visit and my parents got a chance to see me do what I love – creating an impactful and memorable experience.
The bigger question is – how the hell did I ever figure out what it is that I love to do?
You may not like this answer, but it takes time. I started off in marketing and knew I had a creative mind and liked to collaborate with likeminded people. Over the years, my creative skills have expanded to events, experiences, collaborations and more. I always asked questions, I’ve always been curious and I’ve been mindful of the things that give me energy vs. the things that suck the energy out of me.
So how can you figure out what your “zone of genius” is?
As I look back, this is the foundation for what has become a career and a lifestyle based on what I love to do.
I GOT UP
I GOT OUT OF BED
I GOT DRESSED
I SCHEDULED A WORKOUT
I PRACTICED MEETING NEW PEOPLE
I SOUGHT OUT PEOPLE WHO MADE ME SMILE
I SURROUNDED MYSELF WITH PEOPLE WHO ELEVATED ME AND GAVE ME STRENGTH
I REMOVED THE PEOPLE AND MESSAGING THAT WASN’T CONSTRUCTIVE OR SERVING ME IN A POSITIVE WAY
And then…
I BECAME MORE CONFIDENT
I ASKED FOR FEEDBACK
I ALIGNED WITH PEOPLE WHO KNEW BETTER THAN I DID
I BECAME A PART OF MY COMMUNITY
I MADE NEW FRIENDS
I JOINED GROUPS OF PEOPLE WHO I COULD LEARN FROM
I REMINDED MYSELF THAT “I CAN DO THIS”
Ultimately, I put myself out in the world. At first, I put myself out in my own world before stepping out beyond my comfort zone. I’ve failed as many times as I’ve succeeded, but those fails are lessons learned. Give yourself grace, take a minute and then start again and get up, get out of bed, get dressed….
Things evolve, you evolve, your passions grow, your knowledge expands and you will arrive. Keep your eyes and ears open so you don’t miss opportunities.
It wasn’t even about proving myself to others. I was my own worst critic, so I had to prove to myself that I could do “it” first. First name / exEXPERTS do you approve of yourself?
My message:
We aren’t just here for the separation, the divorce, the legal process and all that comes with that. We are also here for what’s next after divorce? How to find yourself? How to get some direction? How to clear the cob webs and start living your life to the fullest.
