Healing After Divorce – A Trifecta of Tools to Help Power Through

“This is stressful.  I can’t do it!”

If this is our approach to anything, we can surely predict where it’s going to go!

Start with Your Mindset

The thing I love most about doing what I do is helping others to shift their mindset.  I love to help others to see the possibilities that are on the other side of their traumas and their hurts and to know that they don’t have to remain the same or be stuck in their situation. We aren’t minimizing the experiences, but at a certain point, we have to move forward and begin to enjoy life again. Otherwise, what’s the point, right? I have a trifecta that I use for success. It includes yoga, nutrition, and Reiki. As a certified yoga teacher, health coach, and Karuna Reiki master, I have been using these tools for years to help myself shift, transform and grow, and now it is my greatest passion to share these tools with others. I was lucky enough to find yoga and nutrition over 20 years ago, and they really and truly did change my life. I know that it sounds so cliche but there’s no other way to put it.

How Yoga Can Change You Forever

I had always been drawn to working out and fitness, but hot yoga provided something I had never experienced. The mental focus that it required was unsurpassed. No phones. No music.  No thinking. If you think, you will fall. Simple. Be here. At this moment only. Quiet the chatter and hear for the first time; your beating heart, your breath, your inspiration. I fell so in love with the practice that I knew I had to share it. Something so simple that we all have access to. All you need is your mind, your body, and your breath, and you can have success. Yet so many people are suffering. They are suffering in their physical bodies. They are suffering in their emotional and spiritual bodies. But they don’t have to!  I had to share this practice. Simple.

Changing Foods to Give Yourself Positive Interactions and Experiences

But then comes the next piece. We all know that you work out all you want; you can run, you can lift weights, you can do every boot camp under the sun, but if you’re not eating right, you won’t get the results in your physical body. Well, what if we take it a step further? The foods we eat are nourishing us for every interaction we will have; every relationship, every meeting, every disagreement, every connection. But what if they’re not? What if the foods we are eating are making us cranky, anxious, tired, and not giving us the energy we need to create positive relationships and feel like our best selves? I saw the connection. I realized that the foods I was eating were working against me. They weren’t helping me to show up in my best light, and again I thought “how simple”! We can all eat the right foods to feel our best, so why aren’t we doing it?  Because we aren’t being properly educated. Because companies are allowed to fill our foods with chemicals that aren’t good for our bodies. Because we just don’t know any better. I wanted to change that! So I got certified as a health coach. First, so I could help myself, then so I could help others.

Why Reiki is Essential for Slowing Down (Even When You Think You Can’t)

And then there’s that third piece of our trifecta. Reiki. We are moving the body. We are nourishing the body. Now we’ve got to deal with that energetic body! All the stuff, all the junk that has accumulated over the years. It’s time to clear that out. Just because something happened in the past, doesn’t mean that it’s gone. Our bodies hold onto these traumas and can cause energy blockages, which can eventually lead to pain and disease in the body. This is why it is so important to always be checking in with ourselves, releasing grudges, not holding on to the stuff. Reiki is a beautiful healing tool that can help us to clear out the cobwebs and allow the light to shine in once again. It is so deeply calming and healing for you. I love watching my clients who tell me, “I can’t sit still” or “I can’t stop thinking,” drift into their Reiki nap. It is such a gift to be able to help someone finally surrender and allow the healing to begin.

You’re Never Too Old To Start Something New

So what happens if you’ve never done any of these things before? You start! That’s what I love about the human experience. We are never too old, it’s never too late. We can choose today, at this moment, to change. Every moment is a choice. We can choose to stay stuck and frustrated.  Or we can choose to shift, transform, and grow! The human body is constantly renewing itself.  Our cells are constantly regenerating; cells in the body, cells in the brain. So we can retrain ourselves and we can get better at things over time with practice and consistency. If we haven’t always been healthy, we can change that, by changing the foods we are nourishing our cells with. If we aren’t good at balancing, we can practice daily and strengthen those pathways in the body and the brain. Our brain is made up of neuron pathways, some are stronger, some are weaker, depending on which ones we have been focusing on. So if we want to make a change, we may have to strengthen new pathways, but that’s the beauty in it all – we can!

No one is saying that it is easy or that it won’t take your commitment. But I love nothing more than showing people the opportunities that are on the other side of our stuff! These gifts and tools are all here for us so why not use them? Why remain the same when we can transcend ourselves? As you embark on this next chapter of your story, I’d love to support you in writing your own path. You are the author. What story will you choose to create?
